As expected (except by the Government), GDP growth rate in Q2 has come down from 13.5 per cent to 6.3 per cent I am afraid it may be lower in Q3. There are both external factors and internal factors that have pulled down the growth rate. The pity is that the government is helpless against external factors and in denial about internal factors. The climate for investment is vitiated. The appetite for investment is poor. The ICOR has perhaps deteriorated. Given these factors, the chances of lifting the growth rate are low. Purrrr...fect dedication
Of all the people in Jonathan Saha's life worth dedicating his book to, none of them could match the impact, or lack thereof, of Toast the cat. "For Toast, the cat, who was no help at all," reads the dedication page in Colonizing Animals written by Saha, which recently went viral on Twitter, collecting more than 2,66,000 likes. " It felt appropriate to dedicate the book to the animal who had the biggest impact on my life," Saha, a researcher, told NPR in an email since working on the book made him appreciate how much animals shape human society. The acknowledgment was also fitting for two reasons: Saha, an associate professor of history at Durham University in the UK, explores how colonialism changed people's relationships with animals in Myanmar, and sadly, Toast died the same month that the book was published, in October 2021.
